This privacy policy explains how Bahgat Expert ("we", "the firm", "the practice") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data submitted through bahgatexpert.com ("the site"). It applies to all visitors and users of the site.

Bahgat Expert is registered in the United Arab Emirates. This policy is drafted to comply with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, "PDPL"), effective January 2027, and applicable data protection principles in force at the date of publication.

2. Personal data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data.

Data you provide directly

  • Name, email address, phone number, and organization name submitted through the contact form.
  • The engagement type you select on the contact form (e.g., "AI Strategy Advisory", "Expert Reporting").
  • The content of any message or case summary you include in your inquiry.
  • Any attachments you upload through the contact form, if applicable.

Data collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.
  • Pages visited, time spent on page, and referral source.
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies as described in our Cookie Policy.

3. Purpose and lawful basis for processing

Personal data is processed for the following purposes, under the lawful bases set out in the PDPL: responding to your inquiry and providing the advisory service you requested (performance of a contract or steps taken at your request prior to a contract); sending follow-up communications related to your inquiry (legitimate interest of the firm); improving the site and understanding how visitors use it (legitimate interest of the firm); and complying with legal obligations such as anti-money-laundering rules or court orders (legal obligation).

We do not process personal data for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share personal data only in the following circumstances.

  • Service providers: hosting (Vercel), analytics (Google Analytics), CMS (Sanity), and email delivery providers that process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
  • Legal obligations: where disclosure is required by UAE law, court order, or regulatory authority.
  • Professional obligations: where required to comply with a court mandate or arbitration appointment in which the firm is acting as a technical expert. In such cases, data sharing is governed by the procedural rules of the appointing body.

We do not transfer personal data outside the UAE except where the recipient country provides adequate protection under the PDPL or where one of the PDPL's permitted exceptions applies.

5. Data retention

  • Contact form submissions: retained for 24 months from the date of last communication, then deleted.
  • Court and arbitration matter data: retained for the duration required by the appointing body's procedural rules and applicable limitation periods.
  • Analytics data: retained for 14 months in anonymized or aggregated form.

6. Your rights under the PDPL

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data and request a copy.
  • Correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Request erasure of your personal data where there is no continuing lawful basis for processing.
  • Restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances.
  • Data portability: receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used format.

7. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we process. These include encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular review of data processing activities. No system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we maintain measures consistent with industry standards.

The site is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes to this policy
